Our Story
Hello! Welcome to Beaver Wicks, We're happy to have you here. My story starts very simply, working in the craft beer world. Lots of sensory training and a passion for creating memories, I decided to put those lessons to a new test. Finding a way to reuse, and repurpose things has been a passion since I was young, and when I saw cases of glassware heading for the dumpster, I knew I had to act. With a small kit from Hobby Lobby, and an old pot from the back of my kitchen cabinet, I set about making my first candles.
A bit crude at first, full of bubbles on the sides and a wick that seemed to prefer a closeness to one side of the glass instead of the middle, I saw something I could make with my own hands.
The first batch that I was satisfied with, sold out in 3 days. The next 3 cases, were gone within a week, and in under 2 months, 14 cases were cooked up, packaged, and lighting up people's homes. And with it, Beaver Wicks was born.
I launched my LLC in January of the next year, and very quickly realized that there's a lot more to candles then simply melt wax, pour in container! So I set about learning everything I could. I knew I wanted to keep that dedication to reviving items that didn't have a purpose, if you stop by my stand at the Farmer's Market, you'll often see Crystal serving dishes, now 5 wicks deep in wax, or a cow shaped cup, whose next life with hold a small succulent.
In addition to giving these things new life, I knew I didn't want them to be cheap either. I tried dozens of different waxes, realized that not all wicks were created equal, and only worked with fragrances that were truly clean. I myself struggle with asthma everyday. So, I knew I wanted my candles to be safe for those who also had similar problems. Using only organic soy wax, all cotton wicks, and fragrances that are free from allergens and toxins, Beaver Wicks candles can light up your home, while giving you peace of mind that you can breathe easy!
